exposition 'Vacance'

The St Quirin chapel has involved the body in many aspects through its successive reallocations. From the sensuality of an elementary material life dedicated to spirituality while the chapel was occupied by the Dominican sisters, to the emergency to find a place to treat wounded men during war time, to the patient's confidence or compliance while the former convent was rehabilitated and used as a hospital, to finally become a protected heritage housing an art space where it is generally forbidden to touch anything. The chapel is a place of withdrawal : the building, hardly visible and identifiable from the outside, hosted different forms of subtraction (religious retreat, hospital, retirement home, exhibition space of untouchable pieces of art).
After the multiple reassignments of the chapel, we wanted to occupy the space with its vacancy, its vacuum, its undefined nature. All the pieces were created for the chapel, they measure and confront its architecture and refer to its history, those who have lived in and what haunts it.
